ABOUT ME

“Know all the theories, master all the techniques, but as you touch a human soul be just another human soul”
— Carl Jung

Welcome, I'm so glad you found me.

If you're here, you may have had some deeply troubling experiences that continue to impact you today.  Or maybe your childhood was "pretty good," so you don't understand the feelings of rejection, unworthiness, helplessness, hopelessness... We may be able to work together in ways that may feel like small shifts, yet that lead to profound change.

Traditional talk therapy can only do so much to heal deep wounds. When what you 'know' and how you experience yourself and the world are at odds, life can be intensely painful.  In order to reconcile these aspects of self, to begin to experience yourself as worthy, as deserving, as *enough,* we need to work under the hood of consciousness.  I have spent over 10 years studying and learning to be with you on this journey in the most healing way possible.  To that end, I've become highly skilled in 'alphabet therapy' (EMDR, DBR).  Most importantly though, I want to see you, and hear you, and know you.  To create the co-presence that is necessary for therapy to be effective.  I continue to feel more and more awe around this process of healing, and gratitude that I can be a part of it.

The handsome guy you'll see in most of my pictures is Strider, a standard poodle.  Although he's got some challenges that keep him from being available to clients, he often 'holds down the fort,' and keeps me charged for my work.  Coming soon, Strider will have a new brother.  I'm hopeful that the little guy will be able to provide therapy dog services for those that wish for them.

My Story

I graduated with my Master of Social Work degree in 2017, embarking on a second career after 20+ years in information technology. My initial path through school culminated in a MA in cognitive psychology, so the brain has always had a special place in my heart. Little did I know that I would be working with the brain in a healing profession many years later. Even more surprising is my own shift from a focus on the logical brain to working with more primitive, unconscious parts of Self. And, incidentally, a shift towards my clients’ hearts and my own. Collaborating in the healing process and being present as my clients shift into new ways of being present in the world is the most fulfilling aspect of my therapeutic work.

My Mission

It becomes more apparent to me over time that a large part of my mission is to assist new clinicians in developing their own learning and expertise. Some ways I carry out this mission:

  • Consulting in my areas of expertise (EMDR, DBR, Highly dissociative clients, Developmental trauma, using the DES & MID for screening and assessment).

  • Supervision (as an LISW-S I can help you fulfill the requirements for independent licensure in Ohio).

  • Education (currently developing introductory trainings on topics such as Parts work, EMDR, and Dissociation).

  • Informal support and networking. As a new clinician, it’s easy to get lost in the weeds of licensure, continuing education, specialization and focus, and even trying to put your own private practice together.

Let me know how I can support you!
